£2,000 raised for Chestnut Tree House AND local community groups

We are excited to announce that our 2015 Shoreham Bonfire and Fireworks evening raised £1,000 for Chestnut Tree House PLUS £1,000 for Shoreham local community groups.

While the bonfire was being built on Saturday morning in the rain and wind our expectations were not that high, but then the sun came out (briefly), the wind dropped and you all turned up in your thousands.

Cheque handed over to Chestnut Tree House

Jonathan Marshall and Stuart Lanham of Shoreham Bonfire Society hand over a cheque for £1,000 to Caroline Roberts-Quigley of Chestnut Tree House

As you gave so generously to our bucket collectors, the excellent 3rd Shoreham Sea Scouts and volunteers, not only did we raise the money to pay for the event but also £2,000 for charity and community groups.

So we are very happy to be writing the following cheques:

  • £1,000 for Chestnut Tree House
  • £200 each for 5 local community groups: Shoreham Beach Bateria Samba Band, 3rd Shoreham Sea Scouts, the young musicians of Shoreham Allstars, Shoreham Fort and the Church of the Good Shepherd

Chestnut Tree House

Chestnut Tree House is the only children’s hospice in East and West Sussex and cares for 300 children and young adults from 0-19 years of age with progressive life-limiting conditions from Sussex and South East Hampshire.

Community Fundraiser Caroline Roberts-Quigley says:

We are so grateful for Shoreham Bonfire Society for choosing us to benefit from this annual community event. We also thank the sponsors Fitzhugh Gates and Dennis Watkins & Co who contributed, and of course to everyone who volunteered at the event, together with the local community who attended and who gave so generously.

We totally rely on individuals and businesses in Sussex and South East Hampshire to raise funds, in order for us to continue providing our essential services to children with life shortening conditions living in our local communities.

Shoreham Bonfire 2016…. 12th November

So a final thank you to all of our volunteers, sponsors and supporters (and not forgetting the Church of the Good Shepherd) that helped make this year a success.

That’s it all over for another year but we hope to see you all again at next year’s Shoreham Bonfire & Fireworks on Saturday 12th November 2016!
